A bridge over the disused line of the Hatfield, Luton and Dunstable Railway near Ayot
The trackbed from the site of Ayot station and signal box to the outskirts of Wheathampstead is now a footpath known as the Ayot Greenway but you can still see signs of the old railway,( closed about 1970) like the odd fish plate and other signs as you go along your way.

Ayot signal box on the same line. I took this photo in about 1969.

These two photos were both taken at the same spot. The village of Water End, just north of Hemel Hempstead on the A4146.
The top photo was taken in 1963 and the bottom one was taken in 1997
The passage of 35 years seems to have altered this view very little.
