Royston High Street.

(These two Photos of Royston were kindly sent in by "reader" Geoffrey Walter. A resident of Royston).

Royston is known for its unique cave. It is bell shaped, 25 feet high and 17 feet across and 30 feet deep below the junction of Ermine Street and the Icknield Way. Cut out of chalk its walls are covered by crude carvings. Most of them are Biblical scenes.

Borehamwood High Street.

Though the film studios were always called Elstree they were in fact built in Borehamwood. The B.B.C. have studios here where they make the television soap "East Enders"

Bricket Wood railway stationH8

Bricket Wood is a small village a few miles south of St. Albans.

The railway was built in the 1850's running between St. Albans and Watford. It was originally built as a single track but was then converted to double but now due to the lack of traffic on the line it has reverted back to single track and the once pretty station with its hanging baskets of flowers which I first saw when I cycled here in 1958 has now all its doors and windows bricked up.

Bricket Wood has long been associated with Naturist camps. The first ones being started in the 1920's to 30's.

At least one still flourishes there.{short description of image}http://www.spielplatzoasis.co.uk

Around Bricket WoodH8

The River Ver at Bricket Wood.

The name Ver comes from the Roman name of St. Albans. Verulamium which the Ver flows through. It is here that the River Ver joins the River Colne.
