Cottages in the small village of Bendish.

It was at 7.36 in the evening of the 4th of October 1930 that the airship the R101 flew over the village of Bendish at a height of 350 feet on its ill fated flight to India from Cardington in Bedfordshire. It was consumed in flames when it crashed into the ground just outside the French town of Allonne, near Beauvais, with a loss of 48 lives.
